Gorakhpur: On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, while addressing the seminar organized on the topic of intervention of tobacco industry in children under the aegis of Red Cross Gorakhpur in the premises of District Disabled Rehabilitation Center, Park Road, Chairman Shivendra Vikram Singh said that Red Cross will run Tobacco Free Gorakhpur campaign very responsibly. In the first phase, awareness seminars/workshops will be organized in all schools with the help of AIIMS Medical College and Gorakhpur specialist doctors and the program will be made successful by getting everyone's cooperation. Managing Committee Member Patron Member Ishwar Chand Jaiswal, Dr. Mahendra Agarwal also addressed the program. The program was conducted by Secretary Ajay Pratap Singh. Vishal Jaiswal, Aditya Nigam, Vivek Jaiswal, Shankar Dayal, Pratibha Ojha, Umesh Chaudhary and other dignitaries were present on the said occasion. Dr. Priyanka Yadav informed about the symptoms of mouth cancer. It occurs more in those people who consume tobacco for a long time. Mouth cancer occurs due to the presence of a substance called Areca Nut in tobacco betel nut. Symptoms include mouth ulcers that do not heal quickly, white and red spots on the roof of the mouth, tongue, lips, difficulty in opening the mouth, difficulty in swallowing food. Dr. Priyanka Yadav said that people who smoke or smoke bidi harm themselves as well as their family members, such as it affects the lungs, heart and brain. Diseases like hypertension, BP, stroke, lung cancer are increasing. In India, more than 80 lakh people die every year due to tobacco-related cancer.
