Fruits And Nutrition Kits Were Distributed To Tb Patients By The Hands Of Hon'ble Governor

Program Description
Gorakhpur, 03 March 2025: A program to adopt TB patients was organized in Gorakhpur under the chairmanship of Hon'ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh and President of Uttar Pradesh Red Cross Society, Smt. Anandi Ben Patel. This program was organized under the "TB Free India by 2025" campaign of the Government of India, in which emphasis was laid on connecting various sections of the society with the TB eradication campaign.

The program was organized on Monday, 03 March 2025 at 01:45 pm, in which the Gorakhpur Red Cross District Branch pledged to adopt 200 TB patients and provide them with complete nutrition kits till they become TB free. During this, fruits and nutrition kits were distributed to 5 TB patients by the hands of Hon'ble Governor.

In the program, Hon'ble Governor was welcomed by the Chairman of Gorakhpur Red Cross Society, Shri Shivendra Vikram Singh and Vishal Jaiswal by presenting a plant, while the progress report of the program was presented by Secretary Shri Ajay Pratap Singh.

Apart from this, the program was inaugurated by Dr. Himabindu Nayak, General Secretary, Uttar Pradesh Red Cross Society, in which she highlighted the various schemes of the Red Cross Society and its contribution to the society.

On this occasion, the Hon'ble Governor appealed to all sections of the society to contribute to the TB eradication campaign. She said that TB is not just a disease but also an obstacle to social and economic development. To eradicate it from its roots, the community, health organizations and the government need to work together.

She said that timely treatment and nutritious diet are very important for patients suffering from TB. She appreciated the work being done by the Red Cross Society in this direction and called upon other social organizations, industrialists and citizens to join this initiative.

On this occasion, volunteers and eminent personalities who contributed to the TB Adoption Program, Mahakumbh 2025 Prayagraj and various national programs and schemes were honored. This honour was given to those who have made significant contributions in TB elimination, health awareness, blood donation, and other social service works.

Representatives of the Health Department, District Administration, social workers, voluntary organisations and educational institutions participated in the programme.

The Hon'ble Governor said that the fight against TB is not only the responsibility of the government, but participation of every person of the society is necessary in it. She appealed to all the members associated with the Red Cross Society to reach out to rural areas and deprived communities and connect as many people as possible to this campaign. She also highlighted the importance of prevention, treatment and nutrition of TB.

Presiding over the programme, Vice President of the State Branch Uttar Pradesh Red Cross Society, Shri Akhilendra Shahi Ji thanked all the guests.

In his brief address, Shri Akhilendra Shahi Ji said, "The dream of TB free India can be realised only when every section of the society cooperates. In this direction, the Red Cross Society is committed to fulfilling its responsibilities and we hope that this campaign will prove to be a milestone in TB elimination."

The program concluded with the national anthem with the permission of the Hon'ble Governor.
